Jan 8, 2024 - Start of the new semester, GBC

And we’re back at it again! Its our last first week, as we head into the last semester of the program. It’s very much pedal to the metal here and it shows. I’m looking forward to the next few months even as stressful as it will inevitably be! As good as my vacation was it’s nice to be back.

Our brooches are on display at GBC!

Some of the third year brooches (including mine!).

Winter Break 2023 - Il Baciarino, Vetulonia, Italy

I have the privilege of visiting my mom at her home in Italy so that we can celebrate the holidays as a family. It’s always a chance to change gears and get creative in different ways. This year, we played a little more with her regalia and I explored carving on ceramics. And, of course, I ate like a queen and kicked (almost) everyone’s butt at poker.

Nov 2023, GBC Jewellery Student Sale

Quickly on the heels of the breast cancer fundraiser the second and third year Jewellery students hosted a sale in the lobby of George Brown, Casa Loma campus. One of my classmates even designed the poster! It was a great opportunity for all of us to sell some of the work we have made over the past couple of years. It was a flurry of activity for a few days leading up to it, in the busiest part of the semester, but well worth it in the end! A portion of our proceeds gets put aside as fundraising money toward our end of year grad show.

Our set up in the lobby.

Nov 2023, Breast Cancer Fundraiser

I had fun participating in raising funds for breast cancer among the cooks that are learning their craft at GBC. Held at the chefs house we got to experience all that the hospitality and culinary program had to offer, and everything was delicious! I sold a (not so) surprising number of food related items.

Nov 2023, Eles, One of a Kind Show

Laura, Ingrid, and I rocked it again at November’s One of a Kind Show. I love the opportunity to work on my sales skills even though it feels like Laura’s work sells itself. She’s got such a wonderful ability to combine modern and traditional styles with so much colour! Its also so great to experience behind the scenes at a show of this size especially as I hope to be the one selling at it one day.
