While at George Brown College, I was exposed to all aspects of jewellery making. I fell in love with wax carving, metal smithing, and alternative materials. Here are some examples of my work from various classes.
Wax Carving
Wax carving is an extremely satisfying and forgiving process, I love the sculptural nature and the organic forms that I can create with it.
Technical Explorations
With this body of work, I explore various metal smithing techniques. Some are for technical classes, or are technical projects within gemsetting, design, or production classes. I enjoyed the challenge presented by each of these pieces, even when they were at times frustrating.
Alternative Materials
While I love the beauty and the craftmanship of precious metals, for personal projects they are out of my budget. Alternative materials such as wood or acrylic are much more accessible while still offering bold colours and the ability to play.
